Albatross: Birds of Flight ~ J.M. Erickson

Albatross: Birds of FlightAlbatross: Birds of Flight by J. M. Erickson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

J. M. Erickson brought the thunder as they would say. Book One Albatross starts off kind of slow in my opinion but stick with it, the story picks up and literally takes flight. Erickson brings the action and really makes the reader choose sides. Do we want to believe the happenings as they unfold, is the doctor telling the truth can we really trust the government side of the the story. There are so many sides to this story it is quite interesting reading how everything unfolds.

If you want a plot that continues to thicken and characters that are well developed and continue to intrigue you; Albatross is the book for you. Erickson provides a well written novel that just like a soap opera keeps you wanting more. Albatross enlightens readers (even those not familiar with special ops tactics) on what happens during a mission gone wrong. The reader is implanted in the lives of four main people and a few side characters, taken on a ride and journey and the outcome is an experience in itself. I cannot wait to read book two.

Summary: No Easy Day: The Firsthand Account of the Mission that Killed Osama Bin Laden ~ Mark Owen

Below is my review of Summary: No Easy Day: The Firsthand Account of the Mission that Killed Osama Bin Laden

This summary was "real" in a sense that it intrigued me enough to want to read more about the experience Mark Owen endured during the mission that eventually lead to the death of terrorist Osama Bin Laden. This summary for being what is really got into to some details such as how Team 6 was formed. It showed some of their vulnerabilities in every day life duties they had to do to get to the point of the mission. Much was left out due to being a summarized version of the book. But this write up did just what it was supposed to do. It intrigued the reader into wanting more details about how this man, Mark Owen, became a Navy Seal and how he eventually ended up on Team 6. From my understanding Team 6 is a group of Seals that the best of the best in the Seals. You already have to be the best to be a Seal now we are talking about the best of the best.

Intriguing is the word that I am going to use for this summary, because that is just what it did. It intrigued me to continue to want to know more about the mission, more about the men who made the ultimate sacrifice to bring down a well known terrorist. We sometimes forget that the soldiers, these Seals are just that men. This summary focuses on that, the humanity as well as the mission.

Unintended Consequences ~ Marti Green

Unintended ConsequencesUnintended Consequences by Marti Green
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A legal thriller of unparalleled proportions, Marti Green provides an amazing novel in Unintended Consequences. This novel grabbed me in the very first chapter. Green wastes no time with frivolous wordiness as you may sometimes encounter with novelists, she gets straight to the point. The main lawyers are portrayed as really strong characters, knowledgeable and consistent in wanting to get to the truth of the missing girl/murdered girl. Upon purchasing this book I did not really know what to expect. This was my first thriller novel and quite frankly I equated "thriller novel" with gore. Green has none of that in this novel.

Unintended Consequences is a well written novel that catches you early while giving the reader enough twists and turns to keep them off balance of solving the mystery. I quite enjoyed this adventure into the legal system and will be reading more of Marti Green in the near future.

Turtle Bay ~ Helga Stipa Madland

Turtle BayTurtle Bay by Helga Stipa Madland
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Helga Stipa Madlang places a nice twist on a detective/drama novel. Turtle Bay's main character is a male dective, father and friend who is raising twin daughters with the help of a trusted friend. As preteens go his twin daughters are a true handful and mean well in their endeavors but always manage to get in trouble, yet he still loves them with his whole heart and tries to raise them to be strong women.

Turtle Bay is definitely a mystery within a mystery. Madland writing style was simple to follow there are a few times where it seemed like the editing had been left in the novel (possible corrections that should have been removed prior to production of the novel), but this does not distract from the novel. They were small and irrelevant. Madland provides just enough clues into the mystery without inadvertently giving the plot and culprit away.

This was an extremely pleasant read
