And Then I Met Margaret by Rob White
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Rob White's "And Then I Met Margaret" gave me complete hope in the future. I say this because this book of stories was not only very easy to read but it was quite inspirational. White starts the stories out in childhood and progresses through each stage of his life. What I found most endearing was his ability to find lessons in some of the simplest creatures to the famous people.
White's life was by no means an easy one but the moral of his story was to never stop believing and never take the easy way out. Although the book promotes positivity, definitely positive thinking, I could sense his struggle to never be poor again. Yes, he is rich now but he was not always and he has a true "Started from the bottom, now I am here" story.
Each chapter brings the reader a new catchy saying and ends it with more food for thought. In his lessons, I was able to apply the point to my everyday life, my dreams and aspiration. "And Then I Met Margaret" has me looking closer at the people in my life and those new faces that I meet. You never know may be placed in your path to assist you on your journey; that is the biggest lesson learned from this book.
Learn to be more observant. Learn to really open your eyes and experience life. Learn to listen with all of your faculties. Learn from your past mistakes. Rob White gave a blueprint, not "the" blueprint, but a version of one that I simply found refreshing. Bits and pieces will help me on my journey and I hope that others will read this with an open mind as well.
