Wantin ~ Truth Devour

WantinWantin by Truth Devour
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

What an amazing read. Wantin by Truth Devour, simply takes you on a journey from childhood to adulthood with Talia Jacobs. Talia Jacobs a young imaginative, spirited, multicultural young woman has experienced so many instances of love and lost in her young life. Devour in depth view of love and lost is quite developed within this novel. Devour's character Talia travels and with every new country and every new person she meets she grows. Grant it Talia does have a man problem; a longing to be loved in the way of her parents in the way she wants to love Brad; she travels in search of inner peace.

Wantin takes us (the readers) on great exploration of finding one's true self and calling. One of the big lessons that I took from this novel was Talia tried her best no matter how hurt or sad she was to make the best out of every situation. She treated all others with kindness and compassion. Although she is still on a journey for self fulfillment and her the search for her soul mate she realizes relationship and love cannot be forced; it must be destined.

I cannot wait to read the second installment of this novel. I know Devour will make it just enjoyable to read as this novel.

Future Prometheus ~ J.M. Erickson

Future Prometheus: Emergence & EvolutionFuture Prometheus: Emergence & Evolution by J M Erickson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This science fiction novel was simply refreshing to read. Future Prometheus by J.M. Erickson puts a real spin on what happens when sickness takes over humanity and androids are brought into the picture. Women rule the world in this time period and males have gone sick due to a sex induced disease that makes them go "Savage." Erickson really paints a picture of a world that is struggling and even with humanity on the edge of existence, political power struggles still occur.

The man character and surprisingly one of the only adult men in this novel, Lieutenant Jose Melendez, exemplifies all that is moral and right with humanity. Although, he is unable to pick up on social cues he still experiences feelings and emotions to some extent. Erickson really provides an amazing story that takes us on an adventure to save boy children and AP's alike. Erickson shows that even if the world has gone to hell and back there is always a bright side. And it doesn't hurt that AP's (robots) kick butt, take names and show compassion to the human race.

Really good read can't wait for the continuation of the storyline.

The cover artwork on this novel really depicts what I imagined the android women would look like. Women with hardcore features; solid physique. It looks like a well defined pencil drawing sketch.

Second Chance Sister ~ Billy McCoy

Second Chance SisterSecond Chance Sister by Billy McCoy
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Second Chance Sister by Billy McCoy is a coming of age story of a young woman, Ashley falling in love with the wrong man. This novel gives brand new meaning to falling stupidly in love and your elders know best. McCoy's short novel Second Chance Sister follows the adventures of Ashley who is around the age of 20-ish. Ashley grows up as the daughter of Rachel, was provided a great home and taken very well care of by her parents. Ashley's independent streak hits her and she is starting to defy her mother Rachel, even as Rachel can see the upcoming demise of Ashley's love. McCoy gives immerses so much feeling and heart into Ashley's character you become drawn in as if you are her best friend and a part of the struggle as well. This short novel is very well written and the premise very well displayed. What would you do, young in love and trying to make the best of bad decisions; these are the questions that must be answered by young Rachel.

Great novel, I enjoyed the lessons learned and the adventure.

Soulphisticated Ladies: Episode 1 by Jaha Knight
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Are you serious? Jaha Knight's Soulphisticated Ladies: Episode 1 will leave you begging for more. Props to you Jaha, I was glued to this book from page one and begging for more at the end. Please hurry and publish the second episode.

This novel brings it with a capital "B." It has drama, comedy, romance, action you name it is in here. The characters that make up the Soulphisticated Ladies are for the most part strong black women. Strong in their careers but the novel would be an eye catcher without a little conflict. These ladies test of friendship stands up to domestic violence, work abuse, emotional abuse, adultery and more.

Whew this book, will not let you down trust me on that!

Cooking with Beans (Frugal Living Academy)Cooking with Beans by Rhiana Jones
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Cooking with Beans (Frugal Living Academy) by Rhiana Jones was a great book to read through. There are tons of good recipes to chose from that work well with the main ingredient....wait for it...BEANS :-) And most importantly Rhiana gives it to you straight, the majority of these meals do not cost an arm and a leg to buy. They also are a few that are for beginner cooks like myself. My favorite recipe by far is the Chili Cheese Dip. With five ingredients, 10 minutes of prep time and 25 minutes of bake time you couldn't tell me I was not the chef that day in the kitchen. Thanks Rhiana for showing me beans can be fun and can make a great meal.

Tales From Little Lump - Alien Season ~ Jeff Folschinsky

Tales From Little Lump - Alien SeasonTales From Little Lump - Alien Season by Jeff Folschinsky
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Tales From Little Lump – Alien Season by Jeff Folschinsky is a funny short science fiction novel based in the small town of Little Lump. Folschinsky draws the reader in with small town shenanigans in Little Lump between the telephone operator, Gene and Gertie.

The sassy shop owner Gertie is a hoot. In my mind she seriously reminded me of Sofia from the Golden Girls; sharp as a tack but would say the first thing that came to her mind. The interactions between all of the characters, especially Gertie, Pie, Jimmy and Gene make the story.

Tales From Little Lump is quite funny and with not a word wasted, meaning Folschinsky does not over explain a scene and over word the reader to death. What turns out to be a possible misunderstanding turns this small town into a possible Armageddon. This was great story by a truly gifted writer; I quite enjoyed the adventure.
