Hym and Hur ~ Phillip Frey

Hym and HurHym and Hur by Phillip Frey
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Hym and Hur by Phillip Frey is quite the quirky short novel. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was fun, light at times with serious undertones (due to dealing with topics of death/illness). But overall what hooked me to this novel and made me want to read it more were the main characters: Hym and Hur. These fictional/paranormal beings were so funny to me. They love playing pranks but they try to do deeds of "good" through their pranks. As you know there is bound to be something that goes wrong and that's what this short novel is essentially about: what can and does go wrong with a "Do Good" prank thought up by Hym and Hur. Great fun novel by Phillip Frey.

AMEN to ROT ~ Bryce Bentley Summers

AMEN to ROTAMEN to ROT by Bryce Bentley Summers
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Amen to Rot by Bryce Bentley Summers was a very quick read. In this short novel paranormal fiction is taken as just that paranormal fiction. Zombies, aliens and other unknown creatures flood the pages of this novel. I think it needed to be just a little bit longer to grasp the full potential of the main character. The reminiscent scenes into his past with his dad held excellent context clues to what he was in the present. But I just felt as though we were still missing the meat of the story. Summers does give you just enough to tag you along until the end of the novel; but as I stated before it left me wanted more information.

The cover of Amen to Rot is excellently designed. The rotted face of the zombie-esque creature holding the fish is very fitting for this novel. It reminded of what you see on today's paranormal graphic novels.

Purse'averance ~ Gwen E. Campbell

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I thoroughly enjoyed Purse'averance by Gwen E. Campbell. Who knew accessories had emotions, opinions and so much drama. This short sweet novel is full of drama and action as we take a look into the life of a purse from conception to the end. I absolutely thought this story was adorable. The relationships that the accessories formed were so life-like and believable. It kind of makes you look at your clothing and accessories differently LOL. As I've stated before this is a short read but well worth getting into if you wish to just relax and enjoy a good storyline. Awesome job to the recently departed Gwen Campbell.
