Avant Nation by C.D. Verhoff ~ Book Review

Avant NationAvant Nation by C.D. Verhoff
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Avant Nation by C.D. Verhoff was a really fascinating read. Verhoff presents us with a powerfully smart young woman character who takes us on a truly dangerous adventure. Clara is my kind of girl smart, scared but willing to do what is right even it makes her stick out like a sore thumb. He co-star in the novel, Hawk is just as much of a strong character as well.

This novel is a good size novel; the beginning however was a little drawn out and needed a little excitement in it. But once you get past the first four chapters Avant Nation really takes off. So I will say stick it out because it is truly a good book and once you get over the initial hump you will not want to put it down. Experiencing a futuristic kind of life through the eyes of (essentially) a teenager going to growing pains, family issues, adulthood really put some of today's harsh reality into perspective. The overall them I gained from this novel is to do good, all differences are not bad, and fight for what you truly believe in.

The House of Night Series - A Must Read

My dear goodness. Yes this book junkie is so into the House of Night series by PC Cast and Kristin Cast.  While trying not to pick up any new series and failing miserably, was introduced to this one by a friends daughter.  I love the paranormal fiction genre in general. Well I located a few books in my fave used book store; shout out to Mckays Used Books.  I stood at the bookshelf and literally read first chapter of "Marked," instantly hooked. It was not until later that I realized there are like a million books in this series (realistically it is 12).

I am currently on book #6 and in my spare time will continue to venture to the end of the series.

Inevitable Act II by Johnie Jay ~ Book Review

Inevitable Act llInevitable Act ll by Johnie Jay
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

As always I am ever so happy to have read Act II. I tried waiting until this weekend, but you know how cliffhangers work. This was a great continuation of Act I. Jay's writing style continues to be a favorite of mine. I am so thankful for his Instagram page otherwise I would have been completely in the dark in regards to his writing capabilities. For those of my viewers that track my blog, trust me when I say you will thoroughly enjoy this series. Please do yourself a favor, read the books in order (Act I then Act II lol). I love how this second book wrapped up some lingering questions from the first. I do however wish this series was about 5 acts long. I believe there is more to be told especially with Angela's best friends.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I absolutely love your writing style. it was if I was placed in the center of Future and Angel's lives. Quite the page turner. I did not wish to put it down. The sex scenes were great and not overly done or too dramatic to where it wouldn't seem real. Bravo Sir Bravo

I am looking forward to reading Act II

A Descendant of Adam or Progeny of Apes - Which Are You? ~ Book Review

A Descendant of Adam or Progeny of Apes -Which Are You?A Descendant of Adam or Progeny of Apes -Which Are You? by David L Cole
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

David Cole did his research. I did not know how I would take what he found or which angle he would be coming from upon reading his work. Cole gives us, the readers, scriptural pieces of evidence from the Bible that supports “Creation” as well as disproves “Evolution.” To show both sides he also gives us the reasoning behind the Evolution theory and not just the creation theory. In this short reading there are strong ties the biblical text as well as many proofs of past “geniuses of their time” who agreed with the Creation theory even if they did not agree wholeheartedly; they were mostly on the side or reverted back to the side of Creation over Evolution. Although, I believe Cole was extremely strong in pointing out his views; I do not believe in everything that was said in this text. However, I do appreciate the knowledge that was obtained on from reading this text as well as a new perspective on the subject Creation versus Evolution.

Family Secrets by Donna M. Zadunajsky ~Book Review

Family SecretsFamily Secrets by Donna M. Zadunajsky
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Simply amazing. I could not put this book down. Family Secrets by Donna Zadunajsky is recipe for success in a fiction novel. The ingredients include drama, mystery, suspense and romance. Zadunajsky also threw in a strong main woman character and a seemingly dysfunctional family. Trust me when I say it was a winning combination.

You will fall in love with the son Colton and you will cry and cheer on the mother Alexis. Zadunajsky took on any subject matters in this novel and the way she chose to work her plot and interweave the characters were pure genius. Have you ever wondered or had your dreams put on hold due to the loss of a loved one or a serious illness? Family Secrets delves into that subject.

I truly enjoyed this books approach to women fighting breast cancer and the strong will to keep the "family" together despite the deceit and secrets. I cannot wait to read more pieces from Zadunajsky.

Moe Howard Died for Our Sins ~ Dale Andrew White (Review)

Moe Howard Died for Our SinsMoe Howard Died for Our Sins by Dale Andrew White
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Moe Howard Died for Our Sins by Dale Andrew White is quite a comical book with a twist. White's sense of humor reminds me of the little old gossip at church; you always are guaranteed to be shocked and tickled silly. One other thing you can find her at fault because sadly you agree with her take on the situation.

White gave us the reader a different spin on life and makes you think but also keeps you on your toes so that you are continuously engaged in the story line never wanting to put the book down.

One of my favorite stories in this book is "Nature of the Beast." This brought up so many hot topics: racism, neighborhood watch, animals and a few more topics. What amazed me about this story is although the characters were animals it could be related to each and every culture worldwide.

If you want to get a good life, think differently about what life has to present to you; definitely give this book a try.
