Turtle Bay by Helga Stipa Madland
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Helga Stipa Madlang places a nice twist on a detective/drama novel. Turtle Bay's main character is a male dective, father and friend who is raising twin daughters with the help of a trusted friend. As preteens go his twin daughters are a true handful and mean well in their endeavors but always manage to get in trouble, yet he still loves them with his whole heart and tries to raise them to be strong women.
Turtle Bay is definitely a mystery within a mystery. Madland writing style was simple to follow there are a few times where it seemed like the editing had been left in the novel (possible corrections that should have been removed prior to production of the novel), but this does not distract from the novel. They were small and irrelevant. Madland provides just enough clues into the mystery without inadvertently giving the plot and culprit away.
This was an extremely pleasant read
